Charlie and Knitting

This is the scotty dog I made, I got the pattern from the link mentioned below. i am going to give it as a gift for Mothers Day. My parents have a Scotty Dog called Charlie who just happens to be white.

These are some recent purchases. The table mat and coasters came from Laura ashley, I thought that they were so pretty and will look good either on the kitchen table or the dresser. The ribbons I bought a couple of weeks ago, the scotty dog is wearing some of the green one around his neck and the others are waiting to be used..

As I said previously I was looking for some craft inspiration as I didnt have any ideas what to make. Today I made a trip to a craft store and bought this wool. I am hoping to make a blanket with it, probably pram blanket size. I would probably have liked a different colour of wool but they had a limited stock. I had to ask for help from a couple of people who were looking at the patterns, they both had a basket full of wool so I guessed they were keen knitters. Their help was greatly appreciated and one was able to tell me of a local wool shop that is worth a visit. My Gran taught me how to knit but I am only able to do basic knit and purl, but the book I am learning from seems to be good..

Crafters Block

I seem to be suffering from Crafters Block..;)
I have a whole load of craft stuff in the house but have no idea what to do with it. I have card making, scrapbooking things and fabric that has sat there for a couple of years and I have no ideas. Today I drove to a nice fabric store and wondered around looking at the fabric and left without buying any as I didnt know what to do with it... I didnt just want to buy more and have it sat with the rest for the next year or so... I think that this evening I will be looking for inspiration from the good old internet... in the meantime these are some photographs i took last year whilst on holiday in Cornwall.

1903ft above sea level..

This is where we went yesterday... The weather was not so good but once the cloud had lifted we were left with stunning views. You can see the scottish boarders and over to the Lake District. Now most people would go out in the warmth of their cars, but not us...oh no... we had to go out on the motorbike... now to say that I was cold would be an understatement. Unlike my dear husband I am more of a fine weather passenger and prefer to venture out when it is at least 32 degrees outside.

Some pictures for you.

This is the place we call home. the beach is just a few minutes drive away in the car. The children love looking in the rock pools for various animals left by the tide.

Crafty Days

Today i had a trip to a local craft warehouse, I bought some fab ribbons, card making stuff and some felt to make one of
these

My parents have a scottie dog and I thought that this would make a lovely gift, thanks to Jenny at allsorts

I have taken a picture of the ribbons as I have no idea what I am going to do with them but now I cant find the cable to connect it to the computer and Andrew is at work... grrr..... The card stuff I bought is going to be used to make some invitations for my daughters birthday sleepover in a couple of weeks.. She will be eight and we are having afew of her friends over to sleep.

When i was at the craft store I saw a lovely twig wreath and would have bought it but i could not get any ideas as to how I would decorate it. I have looked for ideas on the web but cant find a similar one, if you have any ideas please pass them on. I have deep red walls in my dining room and think it would look good, perhaps just a red ribbon or some homespun fabric would look nice????? Perhaps I should have just bought it, it was only £3.00...

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY

Well Valentines Day is not something that we have ever really celebrated and to be honest if Andrew was to go and spend £50 on red roses for me I would worry about the money he had spent. As he is never going to do this I have no worries. However our daughter is excited and made cards last night for all of her friends.

I am feeling quite inspired to do come craft projects so I may have a quick trip to a nearby craft shop to get some inspiration. There is plenty for me to be doing in the house, but I guess that it will still be there for another day and I dont often take time out for myself... HHMMMM we shall see.

Our meal for Chinese New Year was fantastic. These people close their restaurant for two nights and fully cater for guests including all drinks and food for free, they will not accept anything in return and say that without their regular customers there would be no restaurant. It was nice for us to have some time out with friends and there are always other people sat at your table who you dont know but who are always keen to meet you. A most wonderful evening.

I really must get the camera out and figure out how to upload some pictures, I sure have plenty to show you all. Anyway have a wonderful day, GOD Bless.

EDIT > I have just changed the template of the blog to this pink colour... PINK just has to be my most favourite colour in the whole wide world ever!!!! When I was 5 I used to pester Mum to have my hair dyed pink when she won the Pools ! She agreed but never admitted she didnt fill them in at the time... Strange now when I am an adult and could have pink hair if I wanted to, the desire has left me.

Where do the days go?

Well I have not posted in afew days as this cold bug has swept through the family like a tornado. Over the last few days we have just stayed at home and enjoyed beign in the comfort and warmth of the house. I am currently organising a birthday party for our dear daughter who is soon to be eight, she would like a sleep over with a couple of her friends so I am sure that it will be fun... (ahem!!!) Her pressie from us is tickets for her to see Girls Aloud in concert with one of her friends, neither girls know that they are going so it will be fun. It only seems like yesterday that she was born or I was sitting in our old house waiting for the day to come. On that note I came across a cross stitch chart that I was given to make her a birth sampler, now I started it when I was pregnant but never got the thing finished. So last night I sat at the kitchen table and started to stitch, my son has one that a friend made for him so I had really better get this finished.

Tonight we are going out, this is probably my one night out that I get every year. We go to a restaurant that my dear Hubby frequents (alot) through work and business lunches, it is s Chinese restaurant and they close for a weekend around the Chinese New Year and invite their loyal customers and friends for an evening of Food, Entertainment and Drinks to celebrate. I am sooo looking forward to going as we rarely get out together. Anyway as our dear family is driving over here later to look after the children I had better go and get sorted.

Cold bugs here, stay away !!!

Not one person in this house has escaped the cold bug.. We have all been ill with it.. BLEE!!!
I have not slept well for the last few nights as I have either been too hot and unable to breathe or felt like my face was going to cave in with the pressure on my poor sinuses.. Both the children and my dear husband have also suffered...

Anyway moving on, I went to the school and talked about the safety issues that relate to giving 5 and 6 year olds a cricket bat to play with unsupervised and was assured by the head that this would be looked into.. Yeah Right !!!

Other than this the last few days have been quiet due to ill health.. I have decided that at the end of this month I will try and stock up the freezer with some cooking for the following month in the hope that this will make meal times a little easier.. Although I am at home throughout the day there still seems to be an endless amount of things to do and before I know what is happening I have to collect the children from school and I have no ideas when the dredded question "Whats for dinner" arrives from my 5 year olds mouth. So over the next couple of weeks I hope to gather some recipes and get sorted for a day of cooking. Wish me luck!!!

Tonight we have gymnastics to go to. We started off going on a saturday but now that we are approaching 8 we are far to big to be seen going to gymnastics in a class with 4 and 5 year olds and need to be moved on to the big girls class. This class if for the children age 8 to about 13 so we are growing up quickly, tonight is our first time in this class so now gymnastics will comence on a Tuesday night. My son can be encouraged to go with the offer of either a bacon sandwich or some sweeties from the diner whilst we wait.

I nearly forgot to add that my daughters top front tooth is still hanging on in there by a thread. I cant believe she hasnt pulled it out but she insists on leaving it there to fall out on its own. It honestly just hangs in there flapping away whilst she is talking. Now Daddy just doesnt do teeth at all and gets quite queesy just looking at it. This is probably why she has left it alone as it makes for many a good laugh at Daddys expense showing him it.. We are cruel I know.. I took a picture of her last night so i will try and post it later on.

God Bless
